The idea behind this blog is simple. It is a place for me to jot down my current understanding and ideas about the field of telecom in general. As such, it becomes a personal endeavour to help me to keep track of my own develeopment in this field. However during the course of time, I expect to work on certain topics and trends, which may give a more well-defined direction to this blog.
I am a telecom professional myself, working in this field for the past 8 years. Even then I think that my understanding in this field is quite elementary! The appeal of telecom has been its sheer magnitude, it complexity, its nature to touch almost every aspect of life, and technology, be a driver of many of the things we see around us, including shaping the culture and dreams of a generation. It is essentially communications on drugs! If I have to define it: telecom is communications made possible on a grand scale, over different kinds of media, essentially over unlimited distances, and with the possibility of connecting unlimited nodes together in communications networks of various topologies, with new and constantly evolving technologies enabling us
to send ever increasing amounts of data of various kinds, under different situations and
using different resources.
The grand aim of telecom should be to integrate this communications matrix directly into our nature so as to feel a natural part of our being! And this is being increasingly realized as the technology evolves at a rapid pace.
Of there are many things which go alongwith communications, hence I intend to spend time on this blog on areas which are in anyway substantially related to the telecom space. Also, since telecom is not just theory and dreams, I intend to have topics related to the entirity of the sphere of influence in telecom: news, industry and business, technology, analysis and forecasts, blogs, trends, the telecom ecosystem, policy and environment, history, philosophy and culture. The focus would be on the wireless telecom (my background) but I dont intend to restrict to it.
As a final note, as this is an individual endeavour, and as you know an individual can hardly claim to make a substantial difference in this highly connected and inter-dependent world. My attempt will be to link to the relevant sources of information and to provide references to my own analysis, essentially to add some value to the existing material on telecom.
